Common Gynecologic Questions

  1. Urinary tract infection symptoms
    1. These include pelvic pain, painful urination, urinating too frequently, back pain and difficulty starting your stream of urine. We do not evaluate or treat urinary tract symptoms by phone. We will be glad to see you during normal business hours. For weekend and evening evaluation consider Baptist Urgent Care or Baptist Express Care.
  2. Vaginal infection symptoms
    1. Yeast, bacterial and viral infections all may cause discharge, burning, odor or pain. If you think you have a vaginal infection, please call us during regular business hours. We do not assess vaginal symptoms over the phone. If you require evening or weekend evaluation and treatment, consider Baptist Urgent Care or Baptist Express Care.
  3. Late or missed birth control pill
    1. If you forget to take a birth control pill, take it as soon as you remember. If you do not remember until the next day, go ahead and take two pills that day. If you forget to take two pills then take two the day you remember and two the following day. Anytime you forget to take a pill, use another form of birth control until your next period.
  4. Failed contraception or broken condom
    1. Emergency contraception is now over the counter for women 17 and over. For more information, call us during regular business hours, speak with your pharmacist during pharmacy hours and/or see this CDC website.
